Join us at the Peoria Riverfront Museum for a celebration of folk art! With a live performance, a live art demonstration, and a make-it-yourself craft every other Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., this is the perfect educational experience for the whole family!
Based on current exhibition FOLK: Selections from the American Folk Art Museum , Folk Fridays celebrates a diverse selection of folk arts, including metalworking, basket weaving, soap carving and more. Each art form will be paired with a performance, and a craft that you can make yourself!
Schedule:
November 1, 2024 | Artist Pixie, a folk art expert and collector, who will be demonstrating her own artistic process. Lou Ann Koebel will be playing the dulcimer.
November 15, 2024 | John and Amy Sarver will be teaching about the art of decoy carving.Brian Fox Ellis will be sharing traditional folktales and history connected to specific works of art in the exhibit.
Folk Fridays are free with general admission.
